Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday, the Pakistan Army has expressed serious concern about the freedom of action and safe havens available to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan.

The statement by the army’s media wing came after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited the Quetta garrison where he was briefed about the recent terrorist attack in Zhob in which nine security personnel lost their lives. Was given

“The COAS paid tributes to Shuhada, met the injured soldiers at CMH, Quetta, appreciated his services to the nation and commended his resolve,” the statement said.

The army’s information branch said it is expected that the interim Afghan government, in the true sense and in line with the commitments made in the Doha Agreement, will not allow its soil to be used to spread terror against any country.

“The involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist acts in Pakistan is another important concern that needs to be addressed,” the statement stressed.

It added that such attacks are intolerable and an effective response will be given by Pakistan’s security forces.

The ISPR further said that operations against terrorists would continue unabated and the armed forces “will not rest until the menace of terrorism is rooted out from the country”.
