According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir is currently on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan with the aim of enhancing military-to-military cooperation and defense cooperation between the two brotherly countries. Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
On the visit, the Army Chief met President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Defense Minister, First Deputy Minister and Chief of the General Staff and Commander of the Azerbaijan Air Force.
The military’s media wing said Azerbaijan’s political and military leadership vowed to raise mutual cooperation between the two states and their armed forces to a new level.
“Azerbaijan’s political and military leadership acknowledged Pakistan’s continued support,” the ISPR said.
Earlier, COAS General Munir was warmly welcomed at the General Staff Headquarters and given a Guard of Honour. On the occasion, the Army Chief also laid a wreath at Martyrs’ Alley in Baku.
During his meetings with Azerbaijani leaders, the army chief stressed on increasing cooperation in the field of defense and training. He also appreciated the high morale and remarkable standard of operational readiness of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
