
Many people may be curious about the future whereabouts of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who is moving from his longtime home of Seattle to Miami following the revelation of Bezos’ departure.
North of that is a private island that’s home to some of America’s most affluent celebrity neighborhoods.
Known by another name, the Billionaire Bunker, Indian Creek is a man-made barrier island in Biscayne Bay that spans 300 acres and is home to some of the biggest names in business, entertainment and sports.
talking with nbc6 Regarding the history of Indian Creek, Paul George, historian at the Miami Museum of History, revealed that development first began during the real estate boom of the 1920s.
According to George, it was designed as an Italian-Mediterranean community.
After Indian Creek Village was incorporated in 1939, the Indian Creek Village Police Department was established to provide a police force and marine patrol to the community.
Currently, the island is home to dozens of residences, a golf course, a country club and, naturally, some famous people.
“The centerpiece was a golf course and a clubhouse, and that’s what you always see when you come to the island,” George explained. “He becomes the first in everything there.”
Just two months after purchasing a nearby property for $68 million, Bezos purchased a mansion in Indian Creek in October for $79 million. bloomberg news.
It is said that the only way to reach the island village is through a two-lane bridge which is constantly monitored by armed soldiers.
Bezos will now be joined by other A-list stars including musician Julio Iglesias, NFL great Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
In 2020, Tom Brady, along with his children and then-wife Gisele Bündchen, relocated to Indian Creek.
Reportedly, Julio Iglesias has been living in the neighborhood for a long time, having purchased his first home in Indian Creek in 1979.
In 2021, Ivanka Trump and her husband reportedly moved there after purchasing a home from Iglesias.
