Police arrested Caitlin Armstrong in Costa Rica in June after she traveled using a fake passport
A Texas woman who was recently found guilty of murdering professional cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson has been sentenced to 90 years in prison. nbc news,
The highly anticipated trial involving 35-year-old Caitlin Armstrong began on November 1 and comes more than a year after the 25-year-old cyclist was shot dead at her friend’s home on May 11, 2022.
Wilson met fellow cyclist Colin Strickland and they went swimming. Afterwards, Strickland had dinner and drinks before dropping Wilson off at his friend’s house, where he was fatally shot an hour later.
According to KXANInvestigators immediately focused their attention on Strickland’s girlfriend, yoga teacher Armstrong, whose vehicle was found near Wilson’s home.
According to the Austin American-Statesman, Wilson and Strickland dated in 2021, but broke up and decided to remain friends after reconciling. However, Strickland’s friendship with Wilson angered Armstrong.
Armstrong was mistakenly released from custody and flew from Austin, Texas to New York City before disappearing.
After 43 days on the run, he was arrested in Costa Rica on June 29 after using a fake passport to flee the country on May 18.
Upon returning to America, Armstrong was charged with murder and pleaded innocent. After a two and a half week trial, he was found guilty of first-degree murder after the jury deliberated for two hours.
Travis County officers captured Armstrong after a 10-minute chase outside an orthopedic clinic as he attempted to flee officers after a doctor’s appointment, according to reports KXAN,
