Theft and pickpocketing in lounges, waiting areas and car parking are on the rise at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport as passengers and visitors keep losing their belongings at travel stations, sources said on Tuesday.
Sources said that incidents of theft by giving away sweets and other eatables have also been observed at the Karachi airport; However, no arrest has been made in this regard.
The matter has attracted the attention of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the administration, who have put up banners at various places at the airport to warn visitors and passengers to take care of their luggage.
The banners said, “Beware of pickpockets. Take care of your belongings yourself.”
However, the banners warning of CAA drew criticism on Twitter as users said that such banners represent Jinnah International Airport at its worst.
