Pope Francis has expressed concern over the possible escalation of the Hamas-Israel conflict and called for an end to it.
During his traditional Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square in Rome, he emphasized the destructive nature of war and pleaded, “Wait, wait! Brothers, wait.”
The conflict began when Hamas attacked Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,400 people.
Israeli air strikes have killed more than 4,600 Palestinians, mainly civilians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, and left densely populated areas in Gaza in ruins.
