The weather turned pleasant in Karachi as rain accompanied by strong winds lashed some areas of the metropolis.

Light rain occurred in some areas of the city and heavy in some.

The rains affected several parts of the city including Surjani, Ayesha Manzil, II Chundrigar Road, Sadar, Clifton, Kemari, Defense Housing Authority (DHA), University Road, PECHS and Korangi.

In addition, a spokesperson of the Motorway Police said that it also rained on the M-9 motorway in Karachi.

Earlier today, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms in Karachi today and heavy rains in some areas.

It said that the weather is likely to remain cloudy in the next 24 hours and rain is likely to continue till Monday (July 24).

The latest weather advisory said, “Monsoon currents of good intensity continue to enter Sindh and eastern parts of the country.”

The PMD warned of water-logging and localized urban flooding in Karachi and other districts of Sindh. It also advised the public to take precautions and be vigilant during the rains.

According to the Met office, the temperature dropped to 29.5 degrees Celsius, while the humidity level in the air currently stands at 79%. It has been said that today the mercury can rise up to 36 degree Celsius.

Weather analysts have also predicted that the port city is likely to get drenched with intermittent rain today as clouds are coming in from the Arabian Sea.
