Renowned scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel led the funeral prayers of his son Asim Jameel as the deceased was buried in the premises of a mosque in his native town Talamba on Monday.
The deceased, who was a mental patient for a long time, died on Sunday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Only those people know the grief of the death of their young son.” [loved ones] Condolences,” Maulana Tariq said while addressing the funeral procession.
“This wound will not heal quickly,” he said.
In a statement, Multan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhary said: “DPO [district police officer] Have seen a CCTV footage which shows Asim Jameel committing suicide.”

Later, Maulana Tariq’s elder son Yusuf Jameel revealed that his younger brother was taking electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for his illness as he was suffering from severe depression since childhood and his condition had deteriorated in the last six months.
